I've just joined this site and was looking for a hotfix for the issue described in MS Article KB909667. See this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909667. This issue has been dogging me for a few days and after a response from my suppliers tech support, I went looking for this hotfix and found your site. After joining, I downloaded the fix, installed and after testing on two laptops, Acer Extensa 5620, both appear to be shutting down correctly. This site will be at the top of my bookmarks now.
