Maybe its the eula.txt, hotfix is extracted to a temp folder on the encrypted drive then maybe notepad fails to be able to read it

I doubt it, for that to be possible, Notepad would have to be embedded into the hotfix dialog; and no updates would be possible if one deletes Notepad.exe from Windows and System32?!

I didn't see anything wrong with the hotfix, I use Notepad daily and haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. But IIRC Notepad.exe is just a wrapper for the rich edit control, so not much can go wrong...

ha maybe, or they packaged the wrong hotfix. It's anyones guess. I'm not comfortable hosting it though if MS have withdrawn it, for all we know there's a wacking great security hole in it.
