That makes sense! Sorry about posting again but kb951720 is one I'd really like from that list:

A Windows Vista-based computer may stop responding during shutdown after you install a series of hotfixes and then try to restart the computer

I wouldn't recommend hotfix kb950162, only because its outdated!

It updates the kernel to version 6.0.6001.22137 dated 15-Mar-2008. Some other updates are also later than this (such as 6.0.6001.22148).

I recommend the following hotfix, kb950927. It updates the same kernel files to version 6.0.6001.22174 dated 07-May-2008!

I uploaded the x64 version, it just needs approval. The x86 version will need to be separately requested.

Note, the description of 950162 is:

'A computer that is running Windows XP or Windows Vista becomes unresponsive after the driver load and unload operation is repeated many times'

and for 950927:

'The size of the GUID partition table (GPT) disk is not updated on a Windows Vista-based computer after you use a disk management program to expand a logical unit number (LUN)'

The 950927 update includes the 950162 update, and any other updates that use those files.
